Abstract

Some bioactive compounds were quantitatively detected in aqueous, acetone and ethanolic extracts of Syzygium aromaticum and Zingiber Officinale were extracted using ultrasound for 1 hour. The antioxidant activity of the extracts was determined, by determining the ability to inhibit DPPH radicals, and the total phenols and flavonoids in the extracts were quantified.

It was found that the total amount of phenols in Syzygium aromaticum was higher in the 70% acetone extract (431.38±0.27mgGAE/g), and for Zingiber Officinale, it was found that the 70% acetone extract was the highest (36.57±0.28mgGAE/g), and it was found that the amount of flavonoids in the 70% acetone extract For Syzygium aromaticum and Zingiber officinale was the highest (297.14±0.612mgQE\g), (20.80±0.332mgQE\g) Respectively.

Results show that the best inhibition for Syzygium aromatic was in  70% ethanolic extract with a value of IC50 (0.144±0.001mg/ml), and for Zingiber Officinale was in 70% ethanolic extract with a value of IC50 (0.624±0.002mg/ml).
