Abstract

The research was conducted at Abu Jerash farm and the weed laboratory at Department of Plant Protection in the Faculty of Agriculture, Damascus University, in the spring of 2019, with the aim of studying the effect of aqueous extract of sunflower leaves at a concentration of (25, 50, 75, 100%) on seed germination and seedling growth of some plants: (wheat) Triticum aestivum L., (wild barley) Hordeum murinum L., (oat) Avena fatua L., (field bind weed) Convolvulus arvensis in the petri in the laboratory. The results showed that the extract had an inhibitory effect on seed germination and growth of the tested plants seedlings, and the effect increased by increasing the concentration. The concentration 100% was the best on all the studied features, viz. Germination 46.7%, leaflet length3.8 cm, root length1.8 cm, wet weight0.51 g, dry weight 0.12 g. for Wheat was the most sensitive plant species.
