Abstract

Abstract

This study aimed at investigating broiler production in Jordan in terms of estimating the long run cost function. A field survey was carried out to collect the primary data in Jerash governoater in Jordan. Interviews were carried out and a questionnaire was constructed to collect the needed information from 82 farmers. The results of the study showed that both the long run marginal costs and long run average costs were estimated to be 0.93, 0.86, 0.84 JDs / kg of broiler respectively. he  findings  of  the  study showed  that   there are still increas in capacity, and the farms are still increasing the return of the capacity, and that the broiler farms have not reached The  optimum  size  of production. The study recommends the  farmers  have  a  chance  to  increase  their  profits  by  adopting  practices  to decrease their long run production costs or by achieving cost efficiency.
