Digital Transformation in Private Universities Libraries in Lattakia Requirements and Challenges: A Field Study

The study mainly aimed at studying the reality of digital transformation in the libraries of private universities in Lattakia, and identifying the skills possessed by information specialists in the digital environment, and knowing the challenges facing the digital transformation project in it. The study followed the field approach in addressing the objectives of the study by using the questionnaire and interview as tools for collecting information.The results of the study showed the superiority of the private library of Al-Manara University over the library of Al-Sham Private University in the adopted digital transformation strategy, and in the efforts made by the university administration in the field of digital transformation. in addition to the superiority of the librarians of Al-Manara Private University over the librarians of the Al-Sham Private University library in having work skills in the digital environment, and the conversion of information sources into digital form Creating a legislative and legal environment to work in the
digital environment is one of the most important difficulties.The study recommended the need to digitize all sources of information held by private universities libraries, work to find solutions to problems related to the protection of intellectual property rights, work to spread the culture of digital transformation, and enhance forms of cooperation between universities in this field.
