Social responsibility and its role in developing environmental awareness among adolescents (A field study for secondary school students In Damascus countryside schools)

Abstract

The current research aims to know the correlation between social responsibility and environmental awareness , and to know the extent of the difference between them according to the variables of gender and housing condition. A scale of social responsibility consisting of (25) phrases and an environmental awareness scale consisting of (79) phrases were used. The sample size was 120 male and female students from the third year of secondary school in government school in Damascus countryside , and the research samples was chosen by the cluster method.

The results of the research resulted in the presence of a statistically significant correlation between the dimensions of the scale of social responsibility and environmental awareness ,and the absence of statistically significant differences between the average responses of the members of the

research sample on the scales of social responsibility and environmental awareness due to the gender variable , and the presence of differences on the previous two scales due to the status variable housing and for the benefit of residents.
