Abstract

The current strategic policies of most countries aim to accelerate the pace of economic and social development in relation to the need to improve the forms and approaches of regional planning and the management and organization of the economy and the society. This has resulted in increasing importance of scientific research on the issues of functional efficiency and the relevant services.

Economic and social geography is one of the branches of geographical science. Its importance lies in establishing the spatial organization of the society and improving the quality, quantity and life forms of the population. It examines the processes and spatial forms of organizing the life of the population and production from the point of view of the effectiveness of production and productivity of social work. Its main objective is to rationalize the distribution of productive and service sectors throughout the country, and based on economic laws concerned with the distribution of both production and services.

The Territorial organization of productive forces is one of the main concepts that entered the field of socio-economic geography. It is broader and more comprehensive than the concept of distribution and territorial structure as it constitutes the objective basis for the development of the system of spatial coupling and the interlinkages of various sectors and spatial-economic elements that are based on the regional economic division and its essence of geographical division of labor. This division is reflected in the specialization and productive complementarity of the economic region, which allows maximizing work savings while at the same time being a fundamental criterion for the rational distribution of productive forces, an important factor in economic development and social welfare, the most effective solution for achieving sustainability of ecosystems, and the optimal use of natural resources and protection of the surrounding environment.
