Programs to Detect Plagiarism in the Digital Environment: An Analytical Study

Abstract

This study aimed mainly at introducing the dimensions of the phenomenon of plagiarism, in addition to monitoring plagiarism detection programs in the digital environment and then analyzing them and introducing the most prominent features and capabilities that help in detecting and limiting the phenomenon of plagiarism. A descriptive analytical approach was used to obtain information as the appropriate approach to the topic of the study.

The study found that the Internet abounds with many web-based plagiarism detection programs, and these programs vary in terms of those who prepare them, the quality of their availability, methods of accessing texts and languages that support them, the efficiency and accuracy of spotting detection, the quality of examination reports and the statement of plagiarism. So, the study suggested that scientific organizations and publishing houses and Arab libraries adopt the project to prepare an Arabic program to discover plagiarism that supports the Arabic language and takes into consideration its nature.
