Abstract

The aim of the research is to identify the difficulties of establishing social relationships among blind people with the surrounding environment. The descriptive analytical approach was used. The sample size was (205) individuals. A random, stratified, relative sample was drawn that takes into account the qualitative distribution of the blind. The percentage of males in the community was (65.6%) compared to (34.4%) of females. The total number of blind people in the Blind Care Society was (436) blind people. The questionnaire was prepared as a tool for collecting data. After collecting data from the blind, it was analyzed using the SPSS program to reach a set of results, the most important of which were: The style of treating the environment, and the negative preconceived view of the blind person hindered the blind person from establishing social relationships with the surrounding

environment. There were no differences between the average responses of females and males on the axes of the style of treatment and acceptance of the environment. The average responses of females on the negative view scale were higher than the average responses of males, and the differences between the two averages were statistically significant. There are statistically significant differences in the responses of the sample members on the three scale axes according to the age variable. There are no statistically significant differences in the responses of the sample members on the three scale axes according to the income variable. There are statistically significant differences in the responses of the sample members on the three research axes treated according to the social status variable.
