This research deals with the study of the inspiration of poets in the Ayyubid era from the Qur’anic stories, and studying the story of Joseph (peace be upon him) was an example of that inspiration..

The research began by clarifying the concept of inspiration, which is the conscious use of heritage. It then demonstrated the importance of poets' inspiration from Qur'anic stories, as it strengthens the meanings of their poems in their various purposes, such as praise and love poetry, and highlights their knowledge and connection to heritage.

The research demonstrated the importance of drawing inspiration from the story of Joseph, peace be upon him, as it expresses a human experience that

is repeated at every age in human societies where events and relationships between people are similar. The research relied on artistic means to analyze poetic examples, namely traditional symbolism, thematic equivalents, and dramatic structure.

At the end of the study, the research reached results, including: that the Qur’anic stories were a source of inspiration for the poets of the Ayyubid era, especially the story of Joseph, peace be upon him, and that the employment of some of them of this story in their poetry was traditional and in accordance with its connotations, while some poets took the approach of transferring the original meaning to a new meaning, as in the purpose of love poetry, and that the poets’ inspiration was not without skill and creativity, and it was not without monotony at times. The research adopted the descriptive approach and the analytical method to undertake this study.
