Layout Methods of Journalism Pictures in the Syrian Daily Journalism during the year 2023A Comparative Analytical Study of Front-Page Pictures in Al-Thawra and Al-Watan Newspapers

Abstract

The study aimed to identify the methods of layout Journalism Pictures in the Syrian daily Journalism during the year 2023 AD, by revealing the types of published Journalism Pictures, their shapes, identifying their sources, sizes, location on the page, the elements used to furthering them, and explaining the method of layout the accompanying commentary. The study belongs to descriptive studies. It used the survey method, the comparative method, and the content analysis method, for a sample drawn in the industrial week style

from the issues of Al-Thawra and Al-Watan newspapers issued in the first quarter of 2023.                                                                                                                                                                        

The results of the study showed the predominance of using objective Pictures over personal Pictures on the front page of the two study newspapers together, as well as for single Pictures, the rectangular shape of Pictures, and medium-sized Pictures. The two study newspapers did not bother to explain the source of the Pictures published on the front page. The two study newspapers also published most of their Journalism Pictures at the top of the first page of each of them, and the two study newspapers did not use commentary or explanation in most of the Pictures, with the exception of Al-Watan newspaper employed him at a high rate in the bottom of the picture, and color pictures completely dominated the front page of the two study newspapers at the expense of non-color ones.
