Abstract

Despite the great progress witnessed by the Islamic era in various types of sciences, especially in the medical field, and the great interest in building Bimaristan, and preparing doctors who made an important scientific revolution in various medical sciences, the community didn’t abandon the means of treatment, folk and psychological medicine that it had passed down through generations, that is due to the prevalent belief that the disease is an evil spirits that has taken over the patient’s body or an illusion that affects to human mind and controls it, so people resorted to primitive traditional treatment methods such as beating to expel evil spirits from the patient’s body, or resorting to medical exorcism such as using tools like Magic Bowl that include talismanic symbols and The Qur’anic, which contained in their contents the verses of healing.
