The use of fire in funerary rituals during the Neolithic period in Syria

Abstract

This research aims to shed light on one of the death rituals used in the Neolithic era in Syria, where fire was used in funeral rites, as a number of burnt structures were found in a number of sites belonging to the Stone Age in an attempt to understand and explain whether the methods of using fire were similar in all sites or is there a difference, whether it included the whole body or was the burning ritual restricted to certain parts such as the skull and long bones? This research also aims to try to understand and clarify whether these burning structures were related to a specific ritual or were they a fire by chance.
