Abstract

The myth of Memphis is one of the most important creation Myths in ancient Egypt. It had appeared in Memphis city which was the first capital after the unification of Egypt in the last period of the fourth millennium BC, thus, the myth had been attributed to it.

This myth distinguishes by its ideological evolution over other Egyptian creation theories, and by its transcendence of the material element of creation to the spiritual element.

It represents the creation as an image or an idea that the mind or heart of Ptah thought of. Ptah transforms this incorporeal image or idea to a perceivable form on his tongue.

So, from those sacramental words Ptah creates the gods as well as humans, cities, jobs, ranks, provisions, and food.

Finally, the most important feature of this myth is that Ptah exists in everything he created through the their tongues and hearts.
