With the beginning of the Syrian crisis in 1432 AH / 2011 AD, the General Directorate of Antiquities and Museums, under the guidance of Dr. Bashar al-Assad, President of the Syrian Arab Republic, evacuated all museums of the Syrian Arab Republic of their holdings and stored them in safe places within a preventive security plan aimed at protecting them from the danger of armed groups who targeted Syrian cultural heritage. In order to erase the identity of the Syrian people and erase their cultural roots.
This study dealt with the issue of protecting and preserving the collection of folkloric textile dresses in the Museum of Folk Traditions (Qasr al-Azm). The evacuation process is a basic and important procedure to repel the risk of human sabotage, but within safe places, protection measures should be applied against the risk of the influence of environmental factors (heat, humidity, lighting). ) and biological (insects, rodents, dust) on textile objects of an organic nature.
This research attempts to study the preventive preservation measures taken, determine the extent of their efficiency and effectiveness in protecting and preserving the folkloric textile collections in the Museum of Folk Traditions, and provide images that help the reader understand the subject of the research.
