Abstract

This research dealt with the Al-Zangiyya Madrasa in Aleppo, which was a Byzantine church and then converted into a madrasa that was considered one of the most important and oldest madrasas in Aleppo. The beginning was by talking about the emergence of Islamic madrasas in Aleppo in general and their spread in the city, and then moving to the Al-Halawiyah Madrasa by studying its location in the old city, and presenting a complete historical study of this madrasa, its endowments, and the architectural restorations that occurred to it historically. After that, an architectural study of the madrasa was conducted through a detailed description of the elements of the madrasa, including a gate, a vestibule, a courtyard, an iwan, a riwaq, and a prayer hall, as well as the first and second floors of the madrasa, all the way to the archaeological epigraphic inscriptions. Exists in the madrasa, including historical information about the madrasa, and then draws conclusions and analyzes resulting from the complete study.
