Abstract

This research seeks to investigate the developments of the Kingdom of Buganda at all political, economic, social and religious levels in the nineteenth century, during the reign of its most controversial king, Kabaka Mutesa I, who ruled this kingdom for nearly three decades, and during his reign the first European travelers and adventurers arrived in the region. Most notably Speke and Stanley, who provided very important information about this country and its king, which led to arousing international interest in this region and making it the focus of ambitions of the major European countries at the time.
