From the Architectural Design Competitions to Final Projects: a Trial Simulation forward Realizing the Quality in the Architectural Engineering Program in Syria

Abstract

By the identification of the architectural design competition presented by the International Union of Architects, an accordance appears between it and the teaching outcomes listed in the National Academic Reference Standards on the one hand, and between it and the judgement of the final projects presented at the end of the study in the architectural engineering program in Syrian universities on the other hand.

This article depends on realizing a trial simulation between the architectural design competition and the final projects at two levels: management and judgement, in order to find a clear format accredited by the architectural engineering program. All that is to achieve the quality in higher education at two levels:  the program and the alumni, realizing the requirements of the society and the job market.

This article is composed of two primordial parts: the first part provides a documentary about the architectural design competitions, the second part is investigative leads a survey between graduate-students and their supervisors. Whereas the simulation takes its role in the transitive step between those two parts by analyzing the documentary of the architectural design competition into a series of logical operations, applicable on the stages of final projects in the architectural engineering program executed in Syria.
