Abstract

he effective pumping laser energy absorbed when producing soft X-ray lasing is investigated. The EHYBRID fluid and atomic physics code is used to simulate X-ray laser output and resonance line emission. Comparisons are made with experimentally measured Ne-like germanium X-ray laser output at 19.6 nm and emission from germanium plasma produced by two different experiments. We have shown that the pumping laser energy employed in the EHYBRID code needs to be reduced to f » 0.3 of the experimental laser energy for the simulated results to agree with experiment for X-ray laser output for germanium (for long and short pulse experiments), and to be reduced to f » 0.4 experimental laser energy for the simulated results to agree with experiment for emission of resonance lines of germanium (for long and short pulse experiment).
