THE PROBLEM OF THEATER IN HOMS (EMESE ) DURING ROMAN AGE

Abstract

The city of homs (emese ) played an important historical role , several emperors from the severian  dynasty ascended the throne of Rome , after  Septimus severus  marred  the daughter of a priest of the sun temple( julia domina ) , which belongs to noble lineage of family Sampsigeramos , princes this city . However , many archaeological problems relate to the city of homs , trough the classical ages , the most important aspects understanding its architecture al structures dating back to the roman age , which remains unknown to this day ? , our knowledge of it does not go beyond hypotheses and preliminary readings (city walls and sun temple  ) ,  In addition to the theater which is the subject of our research , in which we present a question and suggestion regarding its supposed location ? . on the other hand research in to possible alternatives , and the reasons that make a city of such historical importance, without a theater during the roman age , with the possibility for theater artists their performances  on temporary wooden theatre ? .
