Where this study showed the extent of the difference in the quantities of natural gas that can be transported by pipelines with diameters located within
the range (10-30 inch) and within specific and fixed operating conditions related to a reference case currently in place, and then this study presented several proposals to ensure the arrival of these quantities corresponding to each diameter. For the pipelines within the previous field to the final investor with the required pressure, these suggestions were as follows, either it is sufficient for one booster station to be placed at the beginning of the line and to secure the arrival of a fixed quantity of gas with the required pressure at its end and through a specific diameter fixed along the line, or by distributing a number of booster stations along this line. Each time the gas reaches it, these stations raise its pressure to a constant inlet pressure that secures its arrival to the next station with a constant exit pressure that is the same as the pressure required at the end of the line. These stations are separated by fixed distances ranging between 50-150 km.
For each of the suggestions presented by the research and for each pipe diameter within the range (10-30 inch), and through a computer program created by the Excel program, all the components of the traditional booster stations required by the compressor's capacities, and the driving mechanism of these compressors represented by a leading gas turbine were studied. With the study of the full characteristics of this turbine from the specific work of the compressor, the turbine, temperatures, fuel expenditure and other characteristics of this turbine, in addition to studying some applications of heat recovery added within the stations, which raise the performance of these stations, and the research showed the changes in the characteristics of the components of these stations according to the two variables The two main points in the project are the diameter of the pipe used for transmission along the line, and the number of booster stations distributed along the line at equal intervals.
