Abstract

In this study, which was conducted at the Faculty of Agricultural Engineering - Damascus University - during the year 2023- 2024, the effect of thyme oil (THY) in suppressing bacterial communications in Xcm bacteria was studied. The results showed a significant decrease in both motility, production of proteases, Exopolysaccrides, and biofilm formation in bacteria treated with 0.25 and 0.5 mg/mL of extracted thyme oil. However, no effect observed on

the bacterial growth of bacterial cells, and thus the results indicate the ability of thyme oil to the extract works as anti-QS by influencing the action of DSF family signals of Xcm bacteria, which led to a decrease in the pathogenicity capabilities of the studied bacteria.
