Abstract

 

The study was conducted on the local pepper plant at the Faculty of Agriculture - Damascus University - with the aim of studying  is the effect of foliar spraying with different concentrations of Wood vinegar (1, 2, 3) ml/liter and Humic acid at a concentration of (1, 2, and 3) ml/liter on The growth and productivity of pepper plants, considering that the control is without spraying.

The results of the study showed that foliar spraying with wood vinegar improved all morphological growth indicators (plant height (cm), number of leaves (leaf/plant), leaf area (cm2/plant)) and productivity indicators (number of flowers (flower/plant), number Fruits (fruit/plant), set percentage %,

average fruit weight (g), plant productivity kg/plant, where the average plant productivity reached (2.64 kg/plant), compared to (1.85 kg/plant) in Humic acid treatments and (1.06 kg/plant) in the control. It was also shown that the fruit content of vitamin C, the percentage of soluble solids (TSS%) and the percentage of dry matter increased compared to the foliar spray treatments with Humic acid and the control.

While we did not notice any significant differences between wood vinegar and Humic acid compared to the control in terms of the leaves’ content of total chlorophyll, A and B, the application of treatments (2 and 3 ml/l) of wood vinegar and treatment (1 ml/l) of Humic acid led to an increase in most The studied indicators compared with the control.
