Improving the characteristics of the locally manufactured mechanical hammer mill

The experiment was carried out to study the effect of the diameter of the sieve opening, the number of blades, and the concave clearance on the efficiency of the locally manufactured hammer mill, with three levels of the diameter of the sieve opening (3-4-5) mm and three levels of the number of blades (24-26-28) Blade, with two levels of concave clearance (5-10) mm and its effect on productivity, specific energy, Mean weight diameter, and Grinding ability index, The results were analyzed using the (exstate 2014) program, and the differences between the averages of the coefficients were tested according to the (LSD) test at a probability level of 0.05, With three replications.
the results obtained showed that by increasing the diameter of the sieve opening from 3 to 5 mm and reducing the concave clearance distance from 10 to 5 mm, the specific energy and the Grinding ability index were significantly reduced on the one hand, while productivity and the Mean weight diameter were significantly increased on the other hand. As for the number of Blades This treatment did not have any significant differences with respect to the indicators mentioned. It was found that the best operational method was for the hammer mill on which the experiment was carried out using a sieve diameter of 5 mm, a concave clearance distance of 5 mm, and a number of blades of 26 blades, which gave a productivity of (938.5 kg/h) specific energy ,(3.142 wh/kg) Mean weight diameter(2.88 mm),and Grinding ability (1.214 wh/m2).
