Abstract

The research aimed to determine the economic impact of the Enhancing Food Security Project in Syria in Al-Safira area in Aleppo. Depending on the comparative approach through a field survey of the community of farmers who participated in the project and applied the package of agricultural recommendations for wheat (180 farmers), And a sample of other farmers (186 farmers). Information was collected through personal interviews during the 2019/2020 and 2020/2021 seasons. The results showed that the project

contributed to reducing the total production costs of the participating farmers significantly by 10%. The average yield of irrigated wheat per hectare increased by 7.04%. The achieved net profit increased by 21.84%. The net return in relation to the total revenue increased by 8.72%. The results of the analysis showed an increase in the profitability of farmers adopting modern agricultural techniques. The project played a major role in disseminating the agricultural technology package and improving the economic situation of farmers. The most important problems for farmers were the high costs of production inputs, transportation costs, and the lack of fertilizers.
